Yamaha Essential Maintenance: Winterizing an Outboard Motor
Once again, the season has arrived when it’s necessary to store your boat. While it’s always a bit more fun to pull out your boat than to put it away,...
We 're pleased to provide everything you need to conduct an oil change, using 10W–30 oil, on your 2000–2005 F25 outboards with a single–engine configuration.
Kit Contains:
Per Yamaha 's recommendation, Yamalube 10W–30 engine oil and F25 oil filters should be changed after the new engine break–in period (20 hours), then changed every 100–hours of operation after that. If the hours of engine operation do not total 100 hours, Yamalube oil and the Yamaha F25 oil filters should be changed once per year.
Yamalube 4M is a mineral–based four–stroke outboard engine oil that 's an approved NMMA© FC–W© formulation specifically for use in the harsh marine environment. The FC–W© rating, which sets the minimum standard for outboard engine lubrication, corrosion protection, and resistance to potentially harmful effects of oil dilution caused by fuel, provides critical assurance that your outboard oil meets the minimum. Go it one better. Yamaha 's exclusive and proprietary additive package means Yamalube 4M meets or exceeds the industry standards for lubricity and corrosion protection.
Automotive engine oil will not pass the rigors of the FC–W© test. Most automotive engines cruise at 2500 rpm, whereas an outboard can typically operate from 4500 to 6000 rpm all day long. That kind of stress will tear automotive engine oils apart. Simply put, an automotive oil is not designed or formulated to provide the protection required by an outboard 's moisture–rich, high–rpm, high–load environment.
